Influences and Things BONES Took from Other Movies...


Let's try to pick them out as we find them. Tell me what you thought you found:



Tales from the Hood (1995) - Black man killed in flashback by (a) crooked cop(s), death covered up. Young, black drug dealers on street with guns.

Angel Heart (1987) - Black woman writhing on bed ( / room) of blood.

Hellraiser (1987) - Woman lures (young) man into empty room in once decrepit house (and fixes up decrepit house toward beginning of movie), man is killed, blood is shed to put flesh back on skeletal body of undead/once dead man; Regenerating / "Re-birth" scene.

A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master (1988) - Dog digging in dirt, digging up burial site of skeletal remains.

The Thing (1982) - "(Kill / shoot) that dog!" / harmless-looking dog is evil, taken into care by group of people. Dog attacks his new keeper(s).

City of the Living Dead / The Gates of Hell (1980) - The "city of the dead" lore/mythology; maggot storm/rain spewed onto person's whole body.

Suspiria (1977) - maggots falling ( / dripping) slowly from ceiling onto objects / people's hair/body, shot of girl's face looking up at ceiling and screaming.

Re-Animator (1985) - carrying around / holding talking severed head(s). (also seen in a shorter moment from Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors)

Tenebre (1982) - famous shot of light bulb being cut open.

Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992) - romantic scene with man and woman dancing on ballroom-floor surrounded by candles; ghoulish shadows of person with pointed fingers stretches across wall.

The Whip and the Body (196?) - shot of person's back turned while hand slowly creeps up behind their shoulder, coming out of the darkness.

Casper (1995) - opening featuring 2 white boys going into haunted house and getting spooked by CGI specters.

Ghost (1989) / Trauma (1993) / City of the Living Dead (1980) - psychic / mystic / fortune-teller character in seance scene with group of people sitting in circle holding hands, trying to contact spirit from other-side.

Nosferatu (1922) - when undead figure rises, he rises up from flat laying on back position to standing perfectly upright without bending knees. Just floats up out of lying position to standing up.

Bay of Blood (1971) / Dead Alive (1992) - Tarot Cards

Candyman (1992) - long, dark coat.

High Plains Drifter (1973) - I don't know, I've never seen the movie. But I heard the filmmakers say that movie was an influence.

The Church (1989) / Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn (1987) - something/someone evil buried in basement, dug up / unearthed/uncovered, releases evil forces, supernatural events take place.

Wow, you're really serious about this movie. You should check out JD's revenge, starring Glynn Thurman. Bones is essentially the same movie. Plot, premise, etc.

"J.D.'s Revenge" is a decent movie, though I liked "Bones" more.
