Tarot Deck

I'm hoping that someone can tell me the name of the tarot deck Pearl used in this movie. The Lovers Card was shown as The Couple and I believe the backs of the cards were black with only a white star on them. Thanks in advance.

I don't study the occult so i wouldn't know.

Old as *beep*, but if you don't study the occult, why the hell would you comment here to contribute nothing at all?

I also noticed the unique tarot cards. I liked the artwork even though the words were in spanish.

>>Opportunities multiply as they are seized.<<

reply

I was going to ask that exact same question.

Cant really tell you but try Tarot Garden on the net as they are more than likely to be there, either there or try Ecletic (sp) Tarot. Sorry I cant be more help.

That tarot deck looked really generic to me. And judging by the budget and overall quality of this movie, I'm sure it was just a generic tarot deck. Not necessarily "mexican" or "spanish" anyone suggesting this tarot deck was specialized in any way are RETARDED

This movie obviously had a small budget so it's not like they used some super rare or specialized custom tarot.

They probably just went to a store and bought the first pack of tarot cards they saw. The tarot cards were featured for about two seconds in the whole film.

God people on IMDB can be such giant dweebs.

If you care so much, you could easily find the same deck of tarot cards in any occult/new-age bullcrap store.

ANd finally, you are a dumbass if you belive in tarot. Dumbass.

Also, uncalled for. You don't have to believe in tarot or the occult to like the art on tarot cards. In fact, modern playing cards are derived from tarot cards which weren't originaly used for fortune telling.

reply

Old or not I know Tarot and it is you that is the "Dumbass" you need to think before you speak and not spout out on subjects you know nothing about.

reply

Tarot is gay and fake. It's about as real as gazing into a crystal ball.

That's just my opinion and if you don't like it then that is YOUR problem, hippie.

I like how you called ...I don't even know which one of us you were talking to, but I like how you called us a hippie, like you thought that was some amazing insult. But you're right it is your opinion and you have a right to it, just like I have a right to think you're an *beep* for telling other people what they believe is "fake and gay". At least you can spell.

I don't know the specific deck, but it's a variation of the Rider-Waite tarot.

The symbolism is pretty blatant...

Lovers in the middle - Pearl and Jimmy

Tower to the left - a fall or destruction...and also a reference to the Tower of Babel where the languages of people of the earth are split (a probable reference to Jimmy's demise and the scattering of the people involved in his death).

Death card on the right - which is probably meant to be interpreted literally in this movie, but is also a symbol of transformation (which could also refer to Jimmy possessing his daughter at the end of the film).

Basically you have the past and the future surrounding Jimmy and Pearl being represented symbolically in these images.

Again, it's just a variant of the Rider-Waite deck which may or may not actually exist in real life. I have not personally come across those specific cards or illustrations of them outside of this film, but that's not to say they aren't out there.
