This question relates to the british version of the show, which i have not seen. Is the phone a friend lifeline "brought to us by AT&T" like in the US version?
I only ask because in the Beastie Boys song "And Me" off the Hello Nasty cd has a line that seems to be a reference to this, but its from before the show came out in the states. I was wondering if they took it from the british game show, or its just a coincidence.
Not as far as I'm aware; I think this is just a sponsorship deal in the US, as AT&T hold a very small market segment in the UK (British Telecom hold the largest).
shareI think I read somewhere that British Telecom was sponsoring Phone-A-Friend in the UK, not sure if they still are.
I can't ever recall Tarrant halting to announce th sponsor of the phone call, nor any sponsor in particular for the phone call either. Whatever company they're using isn't getting much advertisement out of it.
