Poll: Do You Think Its Ok for a Man

to steal his best friend's fiance? Especially when your friend trusts you so much that he is willing to die in your place? And then you go around and steals his girlfriend??

Please tell me if this sort of action is considered ok in today's world.

reply

It's ok in today's world.

See here you go, your answer.

I don't think it would be if you really loved the girl/guy. If you had truly, deeply loved the other person, I don't think it would be ok.

reply

Yeah, poor Proteus. Sucks for him.
But Proteus and Marina weren't exactly in love...they really liked each other, I'm sure, just not as much as Marina loved Sinbad, and vice versa. Plus, Marina wasn't happy with the life she was currently living, and after having adventures out on the high seas with Sinbad, she realized what she was meant for, and Proteus understood that.
But no, I don't think that's okay in today's world. If I made myself a guy, and was put in Proteus's position, I would be pissed for a couple years. =P

The problem with reality is the lack of background music.

I just saw the movie and lern the Promethus and Maria (Is that their names) were selected to be married when they were kids and grown up to be friends. However when maria gets to know sinbad, she's in love!

So she friends with Promethus and loves Sinbad.

reply

They had an arranged marriage. But Proteus still loved Maria "I'm saying this for myself. Will You marry me?" or something like that. I think that Maria was being mean to Proteus even if they were arranged, he still genuinely loved her. :)

reply

Well I doubt that Proteus would feel happy being in a relationship with a woman who felt feelings for another man. He's too noble he would want her to be with the one who's right for her (that being Sinbad).

reply

oh no I was absolutly NOT happy with that!! now don't get me wrong, I think the movie is absolutly, totally and in all other means fantastic, but Proteus is one of my fav characters and I was SO omfg I wanna KILL Sinbad!!! but then my friend pointed out that Sinbad would've left without Marina, Proteus sent her after him... I'm still totally pissed off. Proteus is such a nice, noble, ect guy!!it's so not fair!! *cries*

reply

If you guys hate this ending, never see a movie called 'Casablanca'.

reply

lol you've got a point there!!!! XD

don't pay attention to me.

reply

You can't compare this to Casablanca. In casablanca personal love was sacrificed for a greater cause!

reply

Actually, it's funny you mention Casablanca, since my mom and dad kept saying "She should have stayed with him (Proteus), like in Casablanca." Of course, I hadn't seen Casablanca at that time, so I had no idea what they meant :P!

reply

I don't think Sinbad stealed Proteus fiancé. They just fell in love, and Sinbad actually gave her up. It was Marina who run after him (with Proteus blessing). It's a pity, really, Proteus was great, but Sinbad was too and these things just happen.

reply

i wouldn't leave Joseph Fiennes for Brad Pitt!!!!!!!!

Sinbad didn't steal his best friends fiance. They both loved her from the moment they first saw her (the same moment) and she was happy enter an arranged Marriage with Proteus till she fell in love with Sinbad.

That's not stealing. Or cheating. At the begining it's clear that Proteus loves Marina but fears that she doesn't love him.

And no it is not ok to steal your best friend's girl but if she dumps him then it is ok to ask her out. But your best friend might not agree with that.

reply

No, it´s absolutley not okay - Friendship should always come first!
Bros before Hos, ya know? lol

reply

It was Marina's choice, which is the reason that it's a relatively noble ending. If Sinbad had kidnapped and ran off with her, it would have been a very un-nice thing to do, but since Marina talked with Proteus and made her own decision, it's fine.

reply

lol you got that bros before hos from Desperate Housewives.

'Don't make me BUST you up Man'
