Ending?

My wife and I have watched West Wing several times over, and we just finished watching The Newsroom. We haven't watched Studio 60 or Sports Night yet, but we are going to soon. Based on the Sorkin shows that we have watched and love I believe we will enjoy these ones too. Regardless of how these two shows ended I was just curious if anyone could tell me if they had somewhat of a proper ending, one where the story lines are wrapped up as best they could despite being cancelled.
Like I said we are going to watch them regardless, just wondering (and hoping) if they did wrap things up.
Thanks for any help, and please no spoilers.

Sports Night is sorta, kinda wrapped up. Definitely watch it. The first season is some of the best writing television has ever seen. The second season isn't quite as strong, but it's still head and shoulders above most television series. It took me years before I watched The West Wing, because I resented its part in the demise of Sports Night so intensely.

We provide ... Leverage.

Could you explain how West Wing caused Sports Night's Demise?

reply

Sports Nights second season was West Wing's first and Aaron Sorkin was writing both. When ABC cancelled SN there was an offer to move it to HBO, but Sorkin didn't pursue it.

reply

Thanks. I could see this being an HBO show.

I'm in the same boat as the OP. So it doesn't end on a cliffhanger or anything?

Just finished it hours ago. No cliffhanger. It really isn't a series finale, but works well enough.

Kind of like the end to The Newsroom, if you saw that.

I liked it as well as Studio 60. IMO both were cancelled before their time. No real real finale for me

Goddam awful canned laughter though!
