I am watching Sports Night for the first time, marathoning it on Hulu. I am a big Aaron Sorkin fan but was not living here when Sports Night was on.
I have to just say, I am a little in love with Dan Rydell. Josh Charles has done an amazing job portraying a kind-hearted but flawed guy who cares about people. I don't even know if anyone will see this but I just wanted to say this.
He gets a bit more prickly and neurotic in the second season, and we get to see him with his father; a very tense, unpleasant relationship. They practically hate each other.

Josh Charles makes almost all characters he plays likable.
