Was Jet and Aaliyah the last couple you'd think get paired ?

I saw this in the theaters and when I saw the pairing, I did a " wtf ? ". I liked the out of the box casting later on, but at the time I couldn't even have conceived of pairing them as leading man and leading lady in a film.
