How is this a spinoff of Dead Man?

I fail to see the connections between this and Ghost Dog. Dead Man was a Western movie set in the 1800s, this is a samurai movie set in a modern world. The only connection is that Nobody, who appeared in Dead Man, has a cameo appearance in the movie.
