What is the violence content?

Could anyone tell me how much blood and gore and violence is involved in this game? I recently saw my sons playing a game in which the prisoner was begging for his life and another character walked up and killed him. Needless to say, that game is no longer in my house.
What I've read about this game so far sounds good, buit I want to know of the violence content before I waste any money on it.

Actually.... Its not violent at all! Heres what MAY disturb some people:

---------SPOILERS-----------

1. One man gets tazed, and you hear that he dies in a prison escape attempt over the television.

2. Another man gets hit by a tranquilizing dart, and gets dragged away by the corrupt police.

3. A friendly scientist gets his space station blown up, while hes in it (you just heat him scream, and see the station explode).

4. While playing, you will encounter enemy ships, which you have to blow up, in order to move on with your life. The enemies WILL scream and curse at you, but thats all).

5. A allied battlecruiser commander gets blown up, same thing as the scientists death.

6. In a cutscene, youll also get tazed, but will wake up a few seconds later.

7. If youre playing really bad, your friends might get wasted :)

So its pretty wierd, why the game has been given a content 15+ rating... Ive been playing it for a few years now, and I have never walked out of my house and begun tazing people and blowing up their ships, space stations etc.

"Needless to say"? There's absolutely no reason why anyone shouldn't play this game. It has -no- blood, and you only see a total of 5 characters being killed in the entire game, which is done with a laser beam, and an an undamaged body dropping to the ground. Hell - Most Disney games are more violent.

Oh it's the game with the most blood on the market.

I mean, after all...you're FLYING IN SPACE!

-sheesh

Well, aside from a (very) few non-interactive blaster shootings (far less graphic than say...the original Star Wars), the only visual thing that might be a bit disturbing is towards the end where a nomad is coming out of it's hosts mouth to infect someone else (the Liberty president). Let me just say, if you've seen the Stargate SG-1 TV series this scene is pure deja vu. This sequence also includes the single worst use of profanity in the game, when the president shoots the now free parasite and says "Burn you son of a b*tch." I've heard far worse in PG movies...

Anyway, aside from that, the content is pretty mild. There are a few mildly suggestive comments, but nothing you won't hear on primetime TV. In fact, you'll hear a lot worse on TV. Overall a good game. Not the best but good.

It would help if you've played Freelancer as like other people said; there is little blood and no gore. You'd be more worried if your sons were playing F.E.A.R (which is brilliant though a lot more violent than Freelancer).
