I believe it's only out for the PC right now. It would seem difficult to port it to any console. Let me make this suggestion if you're thinking about buying it.

I think it's a pretty good space combat sim, but this game really could have been so much more! I would have loved to take control of the character of Trent in a First-Person or even Tomb Raider-like control and do battle on the ground, but alas, it is not so. Another thing is the repetitiveness of the voice consersations. The main story line is great, but on your off time, the conversations with normal people in the bars is just the same sound byte rehashed in different combinations. It gets really old. Lastly, this game has funky audio issues if you have an audio codecs installed and makes you uninstall them (ie: layer3 codecs for divx file encoding). Just to let you guys know.

On the positive side, the ship upgrades and space combat is very fun, though I'm sure many will miss not being able to use a joystick. The voice acting they recruited is really good, too. Hope that's enough info :) Later.

I liked the main story line too, but it ended in such a cliffhanger!
I'm expecting a followup!

Yes. Console's are inferior. They have less power, are harder to use, and can do less. The only reason to have a console is if your too lazy to install stuff. Try playing invisible war on PC then try it on xbox. *shudder*.

This game is pretty good aye man, what it lacks in a drawn out plot is easily made up for with the multiplayer capacity and the mods you can download. In my opinion there is a sore lack of less linear games like this one.

Who knows, if you buy enough copies maybe they'll make a sequal :)

A person could come right back and point out the obvious decline in PC sales ever since the last go round of console systems without getting into the newest consoles out there. Or the fact that consoles don't need to be upgraded every so often, or have compatibility issues even with the same base machine. I once lost two games that ran fine on my computer simply because I got a different video card. Everything else was the same, and I had upgraded other components before and since then. Notice how I didn't even go into the cost of getting a new computer, as opposed to getting a new console. As for being harder to use, what is there to it? You put the game in, you put the controller in your hands, you play. I can then take my game to a buddy's house and play it on his system without worrying about all these anti-piracy measures to ensure I didn't double install the game. Oh yes, let's not forget how I can also take a memory card along so I don't have to start all over again on the other system. Can I do that on a PC? No I can't. If it's not on the same computer, all progress is lost.

By the way, I own Freelancer and I've played PC games for years now. The point is that there are advantages and disadvantages to both PCs and consoles, and to say one is superior or inferior is very simplistic, regardless of which side of the fence you're on. They're different. Different doesn't mean superior or inferior, just that they're not the same. As for consoles doing less than computers, consoles are made for playing games. That's like saying a car can do less than a helicopter. If all you want to do is get from point A to point B, you don't need what a helicopter would have to offer, yes? And actually, consoles are doing more than what they were once capable of. Standalone DVD players are now almost useless, because one can simply buy a new game console and have the preinstalled DVD/music CD player ready to go. I'm sure one of your major concerns is a controller as opposed to a keyboard/mouse combo. While I certainly prefer the latter, now there are adaptors to video game consoles that let a person use a keyboard and a mouse. They're already out for the Playstation 2 and the original XBox, and chances are it won't be long before the XBox 360 and Playstation 3 get this same adapter.

The converse argument can also be made. If I only use my computer to do my school homework and check email, then do I need the latest Intel processor with 2 Gigs of RAM and the best video card? No I don't. So why would I spend lots of money on PC games (which may not even WORK) which just tax my system and slow me down for stuff I DO need it for, when I can buy the same game for my console and play it without worrying about slowing anything down or having any compatibility issues? If the game says "XBox 360" it will work on my XBox 360. Period. If the game says "PC" then I have to check the required specs to ensure it even has a CHANCE of running. And if my computer doesn't handle it perfectly, then I have to scale back the resolution or other settings so I don't get the full experience. (And again, this is assuming the game will even RUN, a relatively shaky assumption at best, as trying to play the first "Battle for Middle Earth" taught me. It installed, I easily had the minimum specs, but it won't play. It'll start up, and then quit.) With the console, I get the full experience. No scalebacks. No compromises. No having to shut off other programs on the console. It just plain runs perfectly. Period.

I strongly believe that PC gamers and console gamers should look at one another as gamers, period. Instead of doing the whole "Us vs Them" crap, let's encourage game developers to create games that allow for cross-platform play online. Let's unify the game community, not divide it.

"This game is pretty good aye man, what it lacks in a drawn out plot is easily made up for with the multiplayer capacity and the mods you can download. In my opinion there is a sore lack of less linear games like this one."

I agree with that 100%, although Oblivion should help change that.

"Who knows, if you buy enough copies maybe they'll make a sequal :)"

We can only hope.

One last thing: we can't rent PC games.
