Hilditch's ears

As the film wore on and Hilditch became creepier, in some (closeup) shots his ears appeared a bit pointy, sort of the way Satan is traditionally depicted. It could have been the the angle at which they shot him and the way the shots were lit; then again, perhaps the makeup artists worked on Hoskins' ears, just as they worked on Leonard Nimoy's ears for the original Star Trek TV series. Did anyone else get the same impression?

On the dvd commentary, Atom talks about this. Apparently it wasn't intentional, but in certain scenes the lighting did make Bob's ears look Satanic. The film crew found this quite eerie, but it wasn't a pre-filming idea, according to the director.

"Just forget you ever saw it. It's better that way."
