Why did Kiss wear makeup, breathe fire, and spit blood, etc?
Was there any artistic significance? Because I've listened to their music, and the content of their songs don't relate to the makeup, fire, and blood.
Did they do the makeup, fire, and blood gimmick just for attention?
KISS talked about in the beginning they wanted to put on a show like nobody had seen before. They said a lot of bands they would go see would just stand there, and literally turn their back on the audience. KISS wanted to have the type if show if someone dragged you to a show, and you didnt know a single KISS song, you would still have a good time.
I think all of that evolved into an over the top show. The fire, the make up, the explosions.
