AC/DC would of blown KISS off the Stage in '78

AC/DC in the late 70's touring Australia, Europe and in the later stages the States were way better. Bon Scott was the man! No make up, no glitter, no glam rock, just a hard drinkin, heavy playin band.

I agree.

AC/DC = blues on steroids.

So could Aerosmith.

In the late 70's Aerosmith was still rock'n'roll band, but younger people today would most likely associate them as a pop band.

When Cheap Trick opened for KISS in the late 70's, they did blow them off the stage!!

"When I woke up, Mom and Dad are rolling on the couch
Rolling numbers, rock and rolling, got my Kiss records out.
Mommy's alright, Daddy's alright..."

.....They just seem a little weird ....lolololol LOVE IT!

I am a huge Cheap Trick fan,but come on in 1977-78 Kiss was larger than life.Escpecially those 2 back to back tours of Rock n Roll Over and Love Gun/Alive 2 tour, they were so big.Destroyer and Dynasty did pretty well too.But that one year of 1977-78 they were the kings of the stage, and became a merchandising machine.Hell they were so big,NBC put them in a made for tv movie as well.

The SAT verbal exam "would of" blown Eels06 off the stage in '78 and in '10 too. A KISS/AC/DC double bill down under in late 1980 would've been one for the ages.

There is a reason why KISS on festivals are and always where the last group to play, why? Because they outstaged ANYBODY! In 1978 there was no bigger band than KISS back than! In 1978 planet earth was unofficially known as Planet KISS back than.

I hate to break the news to you, but I attended a concert on December 9, 1977 in Memphis, TN where AC/DC played lead on for Kiss.

The result??

AC/DC got boo'd off of the stage.

reply

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to bag KISS, but if you watch the Kissology DVD 1974-1977, while their performances were a lot of fun, I don't think their playing was very neat, instead rather sloopy at times. On that DVD the 1976 perfomance was impressive, but I can't say the same about the other performances.

If what you are saying is true about ACDC being booed off the stage can you elaborate on their performance that night? I can't imagine their performance was bad, maybe KISS fans just couldn't see anything other than KISS. ACDC back than would of been more suited touring with Black Sabbath.

I hate to admit this to people, but I love
" I was made for loving you" .
I also like the way Gene Simmons made fun of himself by the characters saying, " KISS will ever do a disco song "
