Eh... Pros and Cons

I kinda like the fact he is going after his last descendant instead of going after some random new person. It was a big mistake getting a new Composer though. The musical score is part of what made the past 2 films iconic IMHO. I'm gonna guess they couldn't afford or Phillip Glass did not feel like coming back to compose for a third film.

Pros:
Use of the Day of the Dead. Kinda coincides with Mardi Gras theme that part 2 had.

The locations were nice.

Tony Todd even though he spoke recycled lines he still was captivating.

Use of the Hispanic "Familia". and a Healer character. kinda stereotypical but I thought it was interesting.

The Bee coming out of the Egg Yolk scene was well done and creepy.

More origina Flashbacks.

Candyman's "followers". Anyone think they were supposed to symbolize Clive Barker's fans? Prolly looking too much into it.

Cons:

Obvious lower budget.

No real character development.

The nudity felt cheap in this one. Felt out of place.

The Makeup/Gore effects aren't that great either.

A higher bodycount just for the sake of it.

I also liked that the sequel has continuity with the previous film instead of using new characters. I didn't like that Annie was killed off though. I thought the movie would have been stronger with Phillip Glass's score and could tell which parts of the film would have been perfect for it. However, the new music that they used felt similar to Glass's score in essence. I also like the Day of the Dead theme and the new angle of the forbidden racial romance between a white woman and a Latino man.

This one had the happiest ending of the three. The first one ended with dead husband and wife, the second one ended with dead husband and surviving wife and daughter, this one ended with surviving husband, wife and daughter (even though they weren't related).

I think the three films make a solid trilogy.

It's one of those days...
