Did this remind anyone else of Sam Raimi?

Hey there, I just watched "Bedhead" and I gotta say, it's awesome! Really cool short film from Robert "Lo-budget but it looks good" Rodriguez. It reminded me a lot of something Sam Raimi would do, not story-wise, but with those crazy camera moves and angles and reverse photography and whatnot. Did anyone else feel the same way? I'm not saying that Robert's stealing from Raimi, but doesn't it resemble it in a way?

I hadn't thought about it before, but now that you mention it, yeah. The part where the camera flies through the house to the medicine cabinet reminds me of when the camera flies through the woods in Evil Dead. At least I think that happens...I haven't seen Evil Dead in a long time. Hehe.

I was thinking the same too...

Yeah, the quick camera moves and reverse photography are totally remeniscent of The Evil Dead Trilogy.

I just watched "Bedhead" on an old "Night Flight" compilation. I couldn't stop thinking about Raimi. Has Rodriguez ever sited Raimi as an influence?

Now that you mention it - his use of fast moving cameras and weird close up type angles do remind me somewhat of Evil Dead 2. The detatched hand scene comes to mind. Also the use of stop motion animation makes me think of that creepy dancing lady in Evil Dead 2.

Yes. The story isn't anything like a Raimi movie, but the camera work definitely is. The second have of From Dusk Till Dawn also felt very Raimi-esque to me, as well.
