Tina

Whatever happened to Donna'a 14 year old sister that she had during the first season?

reply

I think they were trying to avoid for her character like she doesn't exist and that Donna is the only child.

The only other time she was mentioned was in the season 2 episode, "Vanstock," where, in the closing credits, the question of what happened to her was asked. This was a humorous reference to how she disappeared from the show after just one appearance.

In later episodes it was alluded to that Donna was an only child, effectively writing Tina out of the show.

There's something wrong with Esther.

Donna also used to have an older sister named Valerie.

She is mentioned in the episode Eric's Birthday. Though there were plans to include her in future episodes, the character was never seen. Valerie was phased out as the end result and Donna was referred to as an only child after the episode "Vanstock".

She was murdered by Fez.

I think the writers intended for her to be a background character or to expand on the Pinciottis differently than they ultimately did. With Bob & Midge experimenting with drugs, nudism, tantric sex, swinging, & separating to date other people but still living together, Midge later leaving, and Bob dating it probably would have been more complicated with another daughter at home. Donna's issues wouldn't just be her mother leaving, her dad being a wreck, and then dating other women, it'd also be dealing with a younger sister who's going through the same stuff.

I think the point was to give her a sibling then later pretend like she didn't exist in typical sitcom fashion.
