Flubadub Sleeps With the Fishes

Did this show have story arcs? I ask because I recently watched an episode on a DVD set called HI YA, KIDS! consisting of episodes from various kids' shows of the Fifties. What surprised me (besides the set looking cheaper and more claustrophobic than I recalled) was that it seemed to be an installment of an on-going story line in which Howdy and Buffalo Bob somehow came to owe Phineas T. Bluster thousands of marbles, apparently payable in 500-marble increments. (No mention of the "vig.") Howdy is leading the kids in a song when he is interrupted by anonymous notes "You owe me 500 marbles." Anyone know how Howdy and Bob came to owe this enormous sum?

THere were indeed story arcs but I'm not sure about that one. I do remember one where Howdy and Bluster were in a contest to see who could collect the most marbles.

Ah Flub-a-dub. I had a Flub-a-dub marionette and was forever getting the strings tangled. Now my Flub-a-dub sleeps with the fishes too, 🐟🐠 😢.
