Danny's marriage

In season 2 episode 13 Danny gets married to a girl named Eva. Does anyone remember what happened to her? She was only in the one episode and I don't remember them mentioning what happened to the marriage.

reply

They got divorced. It didn't last long.

Season 4; Episode 23 ("S'no Job"):

This was an episode that featured Danny's father (played by Gavin MacLeod from The Love Boat and The Mary Tyler Moore Show). The character was named "Uncle Stu", as he was Doug's uncle.

Danny has lost his business and also lost his wife/marriage. These are supposed to be two big secrets that Danny asks everyone to keep hidden from his father.

So, they are all having dinner. Arthur walks in and says to Danny -- right in front of Danny's father -- "Oh, I didn't realize that you lost your business. What happened?" Then, a moment later, Arthur says: "Oh, I didn't realize that your wife Eva left you, too. What happened?"

So, of course, Arthur spilled all of the beans in front of Uncle Stu. Even though Arthur did so unintentionally.

Danny was mortified. And upset with Arthur.

Danny also references his marriage in Cologne Ranger, when he say "me & my wife had our problems but she never told me how to smell!"

Yes Danny was divorced. Not surprising, when we met Eva, I had that expectation.

I don't remember Eva at all.

Was she only in that one episode?

Who was the actress? A famous person?

For some reason, this conversation is reminding me of the one and only time that we met Richie's girlfriend (or fiancee).

She was portrayed as a bimbo with a heavy New York accent.

And several weird mannerisms. And an odd personality.

And, I believe, "big hair".

I don't remember her either so I checked the episode listings. She only appeared in Party Favor, in Season 2.

She was played by Marta Dubois. Never heard of her, she has quite a lot of credits on IMDB but nothing that really stands out.

She was born in 1952, while Valentine was born in 1961. I'm not sure if there was any mention of her being an older woman in the show, or whether she looked young enough to be considered roughly the same age as Danny, despite the nine year gap between the respective actors.

I may have to rewatch that episode to refresh my memory. I believe Mookie Barker is one of the guests at the lame bachelors party that Doug throws.

I remember Eva, as being noticeably a little older than Danny, but not much. Very much more mature and jaded though.

She sat on the Heffernan's couch with Danny and smoked. She didn't say much in response to anyone, and seemed bored with the whole deal. That was the character, someone kind of closed off, whatever attitude, not for Danny!

She didn't like being in competition with the pizza shop for Danny's attention.
