And the winner is...

Looks like we're done, right? So let's make it official already.

Let me preface the results unveiling with the following quote:

"Patience is bitter, but its fruit is sweet."
Jean-Jacques Rousseau

So, it looks like charmed's patience has paid and his wish will be granted after all because the winner is (surprise, surprise!):

THE MIDDLEMAN

Here's the classification:

1st 2nd 3rd Votes Points
1) The Middleman 2 1 0 3 8
2) The Prisoner (2009) 2 0 0 2 6
3) Total Recall 2070 1 0 1 2 4
4) Caprica 0 2 0 2 4
5) Run 0 1 1 2 3
6) The Prisoner (1967) 0 0 2 2 2
7) Flashforward 0 1 0 1 2
8) Tom Stone 0 0 1 1 1

So, unless people still have issues with availability, should we begin on Friday, November 22nd. Until then. I'll notify The Middleman board on Sunday, 17th, and then we can all move.

Anticipating that, I already grabbed them off YouTube.

By the way, I do have one last trivial question about Brimstone. In the opening title sequence, there's a quick shot of a figure in a dark robe that appears to be jumping out of a wall. I was wondering if that was part of the escape or something else, but I don't recall seeing that show up in any of the episodes. Does anyone know what that was about? Did I miss it along the way?

I started computing the points, formatting the post, etc, when I realized the results were only supposed to come out Friday (even though voting ended today). Since I was halfway through I said "what the hell" and made an executive decision and declared the winner already. But until tomorrow appeals are accepted.

Your observational powers are amazing, but mine, not as good. Would it be asking too much for you to post a screenshot?

reply

I don't know how to post pictures here, but in the title sequence it's immediately after Stone says "113 of the most vile creatures escaped".

reply

You can't post them here. If you want to post something, you'd have to upload them to a service like Photobucket and post the link. A lot of work, I admit.

reply

I don't recall which one that was. Perhaps some unfilmed episode? Better check with our Brimstone expert...

It came from "Encore" when he was being pursued by Gilbert Jax. I just checked it, and it comes right around the 30 minute mark.

By the way, I sent a message to "un_comfortably_numb" who wrote to us a couple of times after episode 9 and invited him to join us.

As my memory recalls this scene, I believe it is the priest jumping through the wall in the subway where he had all the children at in the very first episode. could be wrong but I think that's it.

Wow, now the nervousness begins. This show is way different than what we usually watch. definitely lighter with lots of dialog. Dark it is not. remember it was on ABC Family. But hey, I liked it.

ha, ha. I keep thinking of their possible sales pitch, "from the network that has brought you Jane By Design, Pretty Little Liars, and The Secret Life of an American Teenager. Gosh, I hope it's better than those three and for our age group. But I have to admit I liked Kyle XY at least in the beginning, though it, too, focused too much on teenagers.

Just remember that The Time Tunnel was probably written for 12-year-olds. (Not to mention the same is true for V-------!.)

And what's that supposed to prove exactly? I mean, not that I revere The Time Tunnel like you guys, really. But I think I disagree. The Time Tunnel was a product of its time and the problem is that it's extremely dated now. When it was made, it was prime-time entertainment, and it was supposed to be one of the best things on TV at the time if you likes science fiction.

As for V... That was atrocious. I mean, the 1984 version had the excuse of the time period again, but the recent one has no such excuse. Still it contained enough violence and adult themes that I wouldn't classify that for children. I mean, just because something is bad and has a cartoon logic, it doesn't mean it's for children, it's just, well, bad. I just hope nobody is thinking of watching V.

Oh, wait a minute, you were talking about Voyagers? Well, glad I dodged a bullet in that one. It looks like I missed the campy phase you guys were going through, so thank God I entered when I did.

Anyway, what I meant about our age group was the teenage themes of many current CW and ABC Family shows. It's really painful to me to watch kids preparing for the prom or having issues with high school popularity. I know deep inside (and outside, whatever...)we're all just overgrown (and aging) kids, but at least our fictional heroes don't have to be.

You got that right. Just don't tell my wife. Then again, she may have already figured that out.

Just got a good laugh (or cry, I'm not sure which) from an unrelated board. Do you recall my post on the Dark Skies board for "White Rabbit" where I expounded my very own "mother of all conspiracy theories" about how the Watergate break-in was done to steal back the proof that Nixon had NASA fake the moon landings, etc? On another board, they're discussing JFK conspiracies and one person posted his theory that the CIA et al conspirators were keeping the proof of the assassination conspiracy in the DNC office at the Watergate. Nixon ordered the break-in to get it so he could expose the plot. But this guy appears to be serious. So it seems Nixon sacrificed his presidency for the good of the nation. I guess that makes him one of our greatest, most heroic Presidents ever. Maybe the whole country has gone Hive after all.

Well, he did say he as not a crook. Just nobody gave him the benefit of the doubt.

So when do we make the move to The Middleman?

reply

Patience, please. I forgot it yesterday. Working on it.

reply

Not a problem; I was just wondering if we were starting this Friday or next. But I suppose I can wait for the official announcement.

reply

Kids are impatient these days. hee, hee.
