Some info on this movie...

Hi,
I found a little info on the real people portrayed in this movie.
The mother-in-law, was actually Jelka Pesic. Her husband, Sava, herself and two sons, Joe and Serge, all lived in the Vancouver, Canada area.
The daughter-in-law that was murdered, married Joe and her name was Alexandra Ignatova Pesic. They married on 6/11/88, had a son named Brandon, on 7/7/89, were divorced in late 1991, and Alex (as she was known), was murdered on 8/5/92.
Unlike the movie, Sava, was alive during all of this. The other daughter-in-law, who was married to Serge, managed to escape this family.
Jelka was convicted, and sentenced to life w/no possibility of parole, for at least 25yrs, on 12/10/93. She resides in the Burnaby Correction Centre for Women.
At the time all of this happened, Brandons maternal grandmother was given custody of him. Joe, Brandons father, was going to court to try and regain custodial rights. After that, I don't know what happened.
Maybe they should make a sequel to this movie, but...jeesh, I'm still looking for this one!

I WAS READING THE STORY ABOUT THE REAL PEOPLE AND THE MOVIE IS A LOT DIFFERENT THEN WHAT REALLY WENT ON; AND IN REAL LIFE WHEN THEY SPLIT UP HE STARTED DATING SOMEONE ELSE. I LOVED THE MOVIE - AND I LOVED THAT HE LOVED HER SO MUCH. AFTER READING THE TESTIMONY OF A FRIEND OF ALEXANDRAS IT RUINED THE MOVIE FOR ME. BUT --- IF ANYONE KNOWS WHERE TO BUY IT PLEASE TELL ME.

The Pesic's actually lived in Burnaby, just down the street from where I grew up and Alexandra and I graduated high school together. Jelka was an absolute kook and she bullied everybody in her world under the guise of protecting her family. I remember her boys dumping my brother in a garbage can and Jelka was quite convinced that her poor boys were simply defending themselves (My brother was a skinny little kid who was several years younger than Joe or Serge). In high school Alexandra was known as Sandra and she really was a great gal, with questionable taste in men. The marraige ended because Jelka refused to stay out of it and Joe could not stand up to her......nor did he see why he should. Sam was one of the most whipped human beings I've ever met and anly ever took a stand if his wife was telling him to do so in support of her or the boys. At the point where the build up to all of this took place I was living in another provice, I don't know that Sandra would have listened to me if I'd been able to warn her about the family but I've always wished......

Yes, this is the site where I got my info from... wonderful site btw!
Do you know any place where I could purchase this movie? It seems they no longer put it on TV. Or, do you know of any book/s that have been written about this family?

Sorry, I guess I should have named your website when I originally posted.

No problem. No thus far there is no book about the case. This would make an excellent book, and I am a little shocked that we do not hear more about the case. As far as I know it has never been the subject of talk shows, crimes shows, etc here in the states. I am in the process of getting some pictures of Jelka, and possibly the sons. I have to pay for them so I will get them later. But, I found a pic of the victim and a recent pic of the son. Visit the link above and it will take you to an archive database with pics.

There are just too many cases for them all to get the spotlight, but a book would've been great. I don't know if ID ever talked about. It's a channel dedicated to real life crime. It's what Court TV use to be

Clark's destiny = Superman, Lex Luthor & Lois Lane.
