ABSOLUTE CRAP

FOR A FILM THAT BOASTS A GREAT, BUT UNLIKELY CAST, IVE GOT TO SAY IT WAS A REAL DISSAPOINTMENT. THE ONLY FUNNY BIT WAS PIERCE BROSNANS CAMEO, IF ANYTHING.

Well, obviously from the fact your spelling is almost perfect and you know where the Caps Lock key is, you are a mental giant...so please, indulge us, what about the movie was absolute crap?

reply

indulge us? you mean indulge you, haha, as you are only the 2nd person to post a reply, given the fact i wrote this way back in december 05. Yeh the movie is god awful. My expectations werent too high, but i was expecting something half decent given the talent. Instead, from what i remember, just a boring predictable unfunny film.

reply

I watched it again today. I still really like it.

My apologies to Breakingaway...you're not the mental giant I thought you were. If you post something in an open forum you will be speaking to US...general public. If you post an email to ME then you would be indulging ME. Quite simple use of language...I'm sure you'll get the hang of it eventually. Still a great little film.

reply

Agreed, great movie, crap OP.

Hi

Well, with such a well thought out and convincing concise argument put forward by Andstric23, who could possibly disagree, oh yea, anybody with a brain LOL

I do suspect that breakingaway28 and Andstric23 are one in the same.

This film was very enjoyable and I think the reviewer called it accurately. It was a small fun film that had both tender moments and hilarity. Was it kind of predictable? Well yes but it's charm was in the unfolding of the story more so than anything else and in the characters. This is what makes these British small films so well done. We all gravitate to different sorts of films. I prefer the character and dialogue driven film to the special effects and big budgeted action films. The former relies on good writing and acting in the same way that a well written play does. The later relies mainly on the "big budget" and caters to the vast cinemaplex audiences. Was this small film a gem in the way Mike Leigh or Ken Loach films are gems? No! Neither did it try to be but for what is was and what it tried to accomplish it did a good job of it. I also give it several extra points for the Scotish accents and the scenery.
