Good Show, but Chuck's Overrated

Yeah, this show is pretty ridiculous: a healthy mix of classic GI Joe and He-Man, but I can tell you the only reason this show is being aired today is Chuck Norris's popularity resurgence. I am not a fan of the over saturation of Chuck Norris. It seems everyone and their mother subscribes to Chuck-Mania ever since Dodgeball. When his cameo occurred, people went: OMG, CHUCK NORIS IS IN A MOVIE WITH BENSTILLLER ERGO CHUCK= GOD!!!11 Seriously folks, there exist many funnier kitsch 'heros.' Vin Diesal's fact generator came first (and Bob Saget even preceded Chuck's.) Steven Seagal has even released his own music album. Really, there are many other options for hilarious celebrities. I would think of all networks, [adult swim] would not just go for the lowest common denominator. So sad.

I don't think it has anything at all to do with Dodgeball, how ludicrous to even suggest such a thing. vin Diesel really just sucks, Bob Saget's actually really funny, Steven Seagal sucks too, Chuck Norris is a nice guy and he rocks, so people think he's sweet. Adult Swim airs his show at like 5 30 in the morning, I wouldn't exactly call it the lcd, would you seriously prefer the Gary Coleman Show? Everybody knows Chuck Norris' stuff is ridiculously cheesy and there is essentially no actig whatsoever, I've loved to laugh at Walker Texas Ranger since i was like 10, it's not anything new.

While I find it's probably also Adult Swim's personal Chuck Norris joke, I think it was just another part of their overwhelming Ruby-Spears/Hanna-Barbera library that they've decided to dust off since being finished with Gigantor.

I don't think it (or Gary Coleman or frickin' Super Globetrotters for that matter) is on Adult Swim out of not being for children, which everyone knows is preposterous (besides, Super Globetrotters is too much of an acid trip for kids of today). Just seems to me their way of taking it back for those of us grew up with this stuff; it's like digging in the crates for rare records. They'll probably dust off Ed Grimley or Rambo or something next week.

That being said, I can kinda tell so far that these are cartoons that aren't to be taken seriously, that they themselves realize were pretty bad. And I think that's where the comedy of it all comes out. Like for instance, was Chuck supposed to be a superhero in his time away from making and plugging flicks?

In any event, I'm glad they showed it, because while I remember the toys, I didn't see the show when I was a kid either because I was at school or just wasn't interested enough to watch. I like the theme music (too bad they talk over it too much for it to be a worthy sample).

Karate Kommandos is right up there with the Mr. T cartoon an the Gary Coleman show. I agree KK's Storyboards were pretty rugged an left out alot of key frames & the fact they use a different company to color. Ya don't see this with the Inovative Disney because all their stuff is done at the same studio. I was watchin Japanese anime when KK was on in 86.. '84

It is defiantly spray cheese. It's so bad it's funny. My favorite part of the show is they they try have chuck at the beginning give some moral message, but all he does is fight people to make his point on the show. Like what kind of message is that for kids.

i dunno scott, i tend to agree on his current popularity being overrated and all...but it works, doesn't it? i mean, you did come here.

anyways, if you guys get the chance, watch lone wolf mcquade. it's from '83 i think and i've been a fan of just that one for awhile...no chuck norris facts and/or puns in there, either.
