At the end:
Remember the scene at the end, where the guy's head got cut off? How'd they fake that?

shareWell, they visibly cut between two separate shots, so it's obvious a stand-in prop was used. As to what the makeup of the prop was, I'm not sure, but given it was the late 70s, some of the techniques used today weren't available.
shareMust've been something filled with fake blood, like a Tom Savini job...
shareThey used a live pig's body (no kidding) since pig's flesh and human flesh is very similar. Don't beleive me? Ever watch Mythbusters on Discovery or TLC (whatever it's on), in order to conduct experiments related to humans, they always use a pig's corpse because of the similarities in skin texture and tone, etc. My instructor in Karate class has been telling us about this movie and mentioned that scene in particular and also told us how it was performed.
sharethey used a live pig!?
