for some reason this reminds of michel gondry's work. im not really sure what but it just does for some reason. anyone else who is familiar with his work get this feeling?

Same here. Not a fan of Gondry's films, too constructed and cute IMHO. Wandâfuru raifu felt authentic and humanist.
