Alright, a while back, I almost sat down and wrote a script for Mega Man - The Movie, but I dont have the patience...
Plot line goes something like this...
In the future (20XX), Dr. Light and his co-scientist Dr. Wily begin making the first humanoid bi-pedal robots, designed specially for tasks involving a hazardous nature that most workers are unable to complete without risk and proper tools and equipment. Some of these would be welding beams in construction work (Fire Man), simple shearing of large pieces of metal which would take painstaking amounts of time to accomplish (Cut Man), heavy lifting that eliminates the need for forklifts, bulldozers, and in some cases cranes (Guts Man), and so on and so forth. However, these robots - even though completely void of an AI system and controlled by human command, are met with hostility at every turn, blamed for the elimination of most of the job-market. Robots are constantly defaced and vandalized while carrying out their assigned tasks.
Meanwhile, Dr. Light and his robotic family of Rock (w/ his dog Rush) and his sister Roll (Dr. Light's wife dying in childbirth left him without a son or daughter, so he made a couple), of which are programmed with an astonishing AI system, are working on a prototype weapon for the military, known as The Buster Shot. This is an arm-cannon that is being co-developed with Wily to eliminate the need of military spending on ammunition, since this cannon uses highly focused rays of intense heat instead of bullets.
About as obsessed with his robots as Light is, Dr. Wily feels that humanity is sinking lower and lower into depravity by denying the existence of robots as workers, let alone equals. Secretly working on a computer virus (The Maverick Virus) to disrupt the robots' satellite controls, Wily plots to give all worker robots an intellect and even worse - a program in their circuitry to unite and destroy any human who appears hostile towards them.
During this time, Light and Wily are given orders to begin work on the creation of a prototype robotic soldier, one who will follow commands and be efficient in all forms of combat training and have an advanced and updated Buster Shot system. The robot is a success, and it's name upon completion is Proto Man. Proven to be just as efficient as any living soldier on earth, and skilled in martial arts as well as it's own weapons training, Proto Man is the first of a plan to mass produce the Break Series of robots, which in time will significantly decrease the count of human deaths.
However, upon it's completion, Dr. Wily activates the Maverick Virus. This is a dark night as the robots on the streets go on a murderous frenzy, and Proto Man, the Buster Shot prototype, and Dr. Wily have all gone missing. As Wily controls the robots much like Hitler's second coming, ordering them to destroy his own race of humans, completely obsessed in his dream of a human-free world where he perfection of robotic science would reign supreme.
With nowhere to turn, desperate military generals look to Dr. Light for an answer... and they get one. A new model design is made... being brave in his attempt at becoming a symbol of virtue among those of his race in hopes for a better and peaceful world, Rock sacrifices himself to Project Mega to enhance his system to give him the same figthing capabilities and firepower as Proto Man, only upgraded with better armor, and an ability to copy a system's program to further his own arsenal, known as the X Buster System, upgrading the already stunning Buster Shot Cannon for Mega's personal use. Convincing the generals that Mega is free of Wily's virus because he is an AI system, they allow the new program to begin Maverick Hunting.
The rest of the movie would continue with action sequences involving Mega having to help civilians while at the same time battling the incredibly violent killing machines, while also tracking down Proto and Wily, which would inevitably lead back home where both Roll and Dr. Light may become hostages in Wily's scheme. Part of the action would focus on Mega's uncertainty of the limits of his skills and his beginner-like qualities as a crimefighter, while the rest would focus on the strategy involved with fighting his opponents whose powers all have certain weaknesses...
When all is said and done, however, the Maverick Virus is still functioning. Finding out that Wily has the last laugh afterall, the virus is found to be actually evolving and learning like an AI system at an alarming rate. Proto Man, who is never fully destroyed, becomes self aware at the very tail end of the movie, setting up for a sequel.
Now, a lot of people say that ideas might be stolen when printed online... I could care less. I don't plan on writing it, I don't think any script I'd write would even get it's foot in the door, and frankly - I'd just like to see it made as long as the guy who directed House of the Dead doesn't touch it!
casting ideas:
Megaman/Rock: Haley Joel Osmund
His role in AI impressed me so much that I do believe he could pull off an emotional but souless robot once again, with the aid of some martial arts coordinators to back him on the fighting aspect of this movie.
2nd choice: Jonathan Taylor Thomas
Protoman: Frankie Munitz
I know that got an LOL from everyone, but if you think about it, he can do martial arts as displayed in Agent Cody Banks, and his acting talent isn't THAT bad. If they cut down his dialogue and concentrated more on him acting like a soldier, I think it could be pulled off.
2nd Choice: Jake Gyllenhaal
Dr. Wily: Christopher Lloyd
EVERYONE agrees on this!! Amazing actor, plays a mad-scientist well as already displayed, and from roles in other movies he has been in, I do believe he could tackle the kind of passion Wily has with robots. There is a warmth and compassion to the character that I would want people to understand his methods and why he is the way he is - which I feel is important to ANY villain.
2nd Choice: Kris Kristopherson
Dr. Light: Sean Connery
Based on looks alone, I think his sad eyes could tell the tale of a deceased wife and his trauma over it that he does not try to look for another to be his bride. Also, though it doesn't reflect in his off-stage personality, I think that there is a charisma about him that shows a sign of love and tenderness when put into a role where he feels strongly for something - in this case, his robotic children and dog.
2nd Choice: Bob Hoskins
Roll: Anna Paquin
Make her blonde, and you got yourself a girl of a million emotions. She can be mean, she can be sweet, and she can be that toughtalking girl who you know is frightened inside. I think all of this is essential for the kind of scene that I could envision with a showdown between her and Proto.
2nd Choice: Emily Perkins
I think casting for the lesser bots is pointless as of now, and would be at the discretion of a director once a script would be completed. However, I think that the ones that I mentioned above would be almost important for someone to keep in mind while reading even the plot outline to see the direction I would be taking this.
Possible directors:
1st - Brian Singer
2nd - James Cameron
3rd - Sam Raimi
4th - John Wu
