Osgood’s impending departure “was not his idea,” a friend tells the NY Daily News. Another source says: "Anyone who claims otherwise is serving up layers of B.S. and lying through their teeth - as self-serving network executives always do.”

It's funny, I was just thinking that Charles Osgood is starting to get on my nerves a little. His delivery is getting a little stilted and slow, as if he's afraid his false teeth will fall out. Nothing against him, and I know he can't help it, because he's getting older, but it's just something I noticed.

So long, Charles. I, for one, am going ro miss you. CBS' Sunday Morning, and Sunday mornings just won't be the same without you. Thanks for all those wonderful Sundays, and good luck in your retirement.

And don't forget to come back and visit us once and awhile. 

It's uncharacteristic of CBS to do this. I know at one time they had a mandatory retirement age (which is why Walter C. left when he did) but Osgood? Forcing him out?

I'm upset. He was great -- tho' I do remember Kuralt's tenure as well.

They've chosen his successor nicely -- Jane Pauley! Nice.

Just like NBC forcing Johnny Carson out of Tonight for Jay Leno. That worked out so well for them.
