who is judge henry?

I'm trying to do a crossword puzzle and i don't know his last name and i dont want to actually watch this piece of tripe so can someone waste their own time and then tell me because of uh yeah.

reply

The great Harris Yulin!

Yulin makes any play, movie worth your time!

His work with Peter Weller in the play Frank's Home was amazing, too.

I suspect you will have finished the crossword by now but his surname is Garth.

And this truly polished, absorbing version of Wister's classic story doesn't deserve your uncouth putdown. Diane Lane is absolutely superb, as usual, and Bill Pullman does wonderful job with an iconic role.

I do not know if you actually believe it is "a piece of tripe" but your statement is completely crude and uncalled for. Even if you think the production is terrible a bit more polite and refined way of stating it would be much better. Especially in light of the fact you are asking for information from someone else. Meaning, you are asking for a favor.

reply

Anyone who is asking a favor needs to be a little more polite. You don't have to watch this particular version of the movie, to know the answer to your crossword puzzle clue. There has been a book, a television series and many other versions of this movie, to tell you that the ranch belongs to Judge Garth. Lee J Cobb and many other actors have done an excellent job of playing this character. "The Virginian" is a classic and not to be trifled with.

reply

I've read the novel twice, and even written a screenplay based on it. I don't remember Judge Henry having a last name.

Indeed, given the formality with which people addressed each other, one would reasonably assume Henry was his family name, not his Christian name.

If this is wrong, please correct me.

reply

I have read the book, as well, and Henry is indeed the family name. Garth was added for the TV series with Lee J. Cobb.
