Mask abilities

So the story is that the alchemist has a mask that is able to catch the souls of people that are killed while watching the mask. And you need blood of virgins and probably other shenanigans to forge such a mask. I can understand that mirrors will screw with mask and I can somehow accept that it reflects bullets (although I wonder why bullets are reflected while solid objects can smash it). But why is the alchemist able to warp around like that, to slow his fall and especially to summon those flock of birds? Thise abilities are totally unexplained and not what you'd exspect from the mask.

haven't you learned anything from all those werewolf series and films? ;-)

in the lore about cannibalistic tribes it is a common element that by drinking human blood or eating human flesh (especially the heart) you gain supernatural powers, not necessarily "spooky" ones but things like heightened senses, speed, better reflexes. and what the mask does is basically cannibalism.

as to the birds - no clue, i think that was done just for laughs.
