Grossly Underrated!
Its just sad how people have responded to this. They all ended up judging it too pre-maturely!

You're right, this is a greatly underrated film and I must admit I just loved it. It was one of the best films I have seen in Bollywood cinema and the sountrack to it is also amazing, I don't know why this film was so slated and didn't get the recognistion it deserved.
Truth and honesty don't work well, when the idea of cinema is escapism. Dil Se.. was certainly more truthful and honest than most Bollywood movies, and hence perhaps it is lost in the sands of time.
shareI agree - great film! I think the problem might be that it is a prisoner of the Bollywood template. I personally love Indian films (and I am not an Indian) and I absolutely adore the music and the dancing in them and I think the genre should definitely go on, but Dil Se might be one film that could've existed without that and it might've gotten more international understanding and recognition that way. I may be wrong...
