Murder Motel - Was she ok?

Working my way through the DVD Collection, I watched 'Murder Motel' last night. The 'token' American - an actress called Kathy Millan (character part Cathy)- whilst pleasing on the eye, her acting was rather suspect but moreover, in all her scenes, she seemed to be permanently sleepy and stumbling around as if drugged. Did she have a problem and anyone else notice this?

I think she's marvellous, beautiful and just right.

I noticed the same thing. During moments (that I actually had to replay) when she wasn't speaking-she would open her mouth wide in a big "O" shape as if the camera wasn't on her and she would make the strangest faces. She certainly seemed "out of it" in places where the story didn't require it. Notice that we didn't see much more from her in movies that i'm aware of. I found her acting distracting to the story, to say the least. I replayed scenes just to see her facial expressions. She even does a small hiccup mid-sentence when making a phone call from within her room at the motel. Why the hell they wouldn't re-do that phone call may not have been a budgetary decision as much as maybe the director thought a second attempt wouldn't come out any better... Though I would say that drugs and not drinking appeared to be what she seemed to be under the influence of.

The actress in question is Robyn Millan. She was an ABC contract player, and hence the "token" American actress. I thought Murder Motel was the worst of the series. Anyway, I always thought she was supposed to be in shock after learning about the death/murder of her boyfriend, and realizing she could be next. I could be wrong.

"Murder Motel" was the last "Thriller" I watched, and it seemed to me she was just acting, or trying to act, shocked and terrified at the situation she found herself in... but since it's been mentioned she could well have been off her head on something, or ill... but I don't really think so.

I have to say I found it a disappointment as I've found most of series 5 to have been excellent.

I think the main problem for me is that there's not enough Ralph Bates in it, Bates is an actor I like and if he'd been in it longer I might have enjoyed it more.

I noticed it too but then her acting grew on me. It could just be a quirk of the actress. Sort of like Meg Tilly/Jennifer Tilly. They're quirky as hell (and some will say annoying) but somehow it works.
