Come Out, Come Out, Wherever You Are

"At breakfast in a country hotel, American tourist Cathy More inquires about the whereabouts of her cousin Jane, who has been traveling with her. The proprietors, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis, insist Cathy was the only person to check in the night before, and Jane's room shows no sign of having been occupied. The police are called to investigate, but they began to suspect that Jane may be merely a figment of Cathy's disturbed mind."

I've watched this one twice and never understood it. Can someone be kind enough to explain what exactly it was all about?

Cathy met Paul Eastman at a motel and decided to murder Jane , burying her in the woods after stabbing her. The idea formulated between them after Paul witnessed Cathy doing nothing to help Jane who stumbled whilst on top of a church tower.
Paul a regular stayer at a hotel run by drunkard Arthur and his wife, knew that it was possible to frame Arthur for the murder, his wife having told him of Arthur's past assault charge.
In the end they didn't get away with it when Paul gave the copper a match strip proving he had stayed at the same motel previously as the girls and was not the innocent bystander he claimed.
Cathy murdered Paul anyway at the end pushing him off the same church tower that Jane nearly fell off earlier.
The reason for the killing was that Jane , Cathy's cousin had loads of money. The frame was set up by Cathy arriving at the Lewis's hotel when Arthur was alone at reception and drunk. Cathy then claimed Jane was with her the next morning, with Paul as a bogus witness.
