Do Brits really use the word 'bloke' that much?

Well?

What's the use for one to gain the whole world, yet lose his soul?

reply

I really don't think so-they use the word/term mate more.

reply

Yeah, my english friends use 'mate' more when we chat.

I didn't notice, so they probably didn't use it more than I do. A bloke is specifically male, and since she changed sex, they needed to specify that perhaps more than in another film.

Bloke =/= mate. You're not necessarily on good terms with a bloke.

(What is a "soul" and what is the evidence that it exists or can be lost?)

Im British and yeh bloke is a pretty commonly used word.

Yup, 'bloke' translates into 'guy' more easily than 'friend'. 'Mate' is another word for friend, although people also tend to use it as a relaxed way of addressing a member of the general public about something, usually as a matter of friendly concern or disgruntlement, as in 'look where you are going, mate'.
