Only a 5.6????? It should be atleast a 7

This movie should be rated much higher. I was laughing hysterically the entire time. This is a great movie.

I gave it a 7 also. The 120+ "1" votes certainly doesn't help it's average. Ridiculous.

I too thought this movie was hilarious. I think Albert Brooks is a one of the most funniest and creative writer and director of our time; just too bad nobody else thinks that way.

reply

Yes, the movie was good and deserved a better rating. She worked very well.

this is my favorite movie of all time. it should at least be a 7 or 8.

Clearly...

...it shouldn't

I agree. I thought it was at least an 8 out of 10. Albert Brooks is funny, the writing is good and the movie looks good. Sharon Stone was good in it. I liked the movie The Muse A LOT!

reply

Frustratingly anoying - Albert Brooks is so whiny - I for one gave it a 2 - the extra one for the semi naked shot of sharon stone :P

reply

This is typical Brooks humor which I find to be funny in spurts. But really his character is so unlikable that I never cared what happened to this jerk. He bites his wife's head off for spending time with the muse, he saunters into the kitchen asking his wife to make him dinner when she's baking up a storm - the whole time his wife is very accepting and doesn't even fight him on this absurd situation. Brook's uninspired direction (a few too many sitting and talking scenes, hmmm?) and a truly horrible ending don't help.
4/10

I know who I am! I'm the dude playing a dude disguised as another dude!

reply

I beg to defer. Whiny is whole point of the movie and Albert Brooks is the master of it. I think he played the whiny part just right. There are so many movies where the whiny and jealousy becomes so overdone and unrealistic that it drives the plot. Albert Brooks has just the right amount of acquiescing to the demands of the muse to fulfil his goal of writing a hit screenplay while having the reaction of the every man about her excessively expensive demands.

Old post, but couldn't agree more with you.

reply

I agree. I'm very picky about movies, especially comedies. I tend to like Fellini, Scorsese, Paul T. Anderson... critically acclaimed movies. And I really like this, it's cute and I'd give it at least a 7 as well.
