Gosh - why the low rating?

Gosh - why the low rating?
Are people that frightened by brave, intelligent, immaculate filmmaking?
I suspect so.

Extraordinary piece of film making.
And possibly the greatest end of all time to a traditionally plotted movie.

Agreed. Very under-rated drama of the human condition.

"low"? Over 7 for a movie that doesn't have an A-list cast or director is pretty good.

I don't get it either. I loved it. I thought the ending was perfect, although several of my friends who saw it did not agree with me. Something else about the ending: I've never been a big fan of Springsteen, but his ballad during the closing credits absolutely sent chills down my spine ( especially after that brilliant ending ). I am kind of disappointed that Vanessa Martinez ( the daughter ) hasn't had much of a career since then, though. That all being said, there hasn't been much of Sayles' work that I didn't like. I own at least a dozen of his films.

Just an afterthought, about 5 minutes after I posted. Thought the ending to ' The Hurt Locker ' was brilliant, too.

I also liked it a lot. I give it a 7.8/10. It also has a very haunting musical score.
I'm listening to it right now.
