Interesting that both Sonja John (Det. Shakima Greggs) and Michael Kenneth Williams (Omar Little) from the Wire both had small roles in this film. Anyone know why? Perhaps because it was set in NY?

Usually when actors appear in several of the same movies/shows it means there is a connection either with the director and/or producers, so I was just trying to see if anyone knew about whether this was the case here. But thanks for your trite reply.

The Wire was set in Baltimore, MD.

What I meant was that Bringing out the Dead was set in NY, and both of the actors are from there. You surely didn't think I watched the entire series of the Wire and thought it was set in NY? Give me more credit than that lol.

The Wire was set in Baltimore, MD (and predominantly filmed there).

Haven't seen this movie since I was a kid, want to rewatch it.
But interesting that Scorsese worked with MK Williams and Arquette on this film- they all worked together on "Boardwalk Empire" too, many years later

Good point. I'm guessing it's some NY connection or simply that Scorsese likes to work with actors he's familiar with multiple times.

Just checked, seems like Marty collaborates with the same person responsible for casting since "Goodfellas". Including for "Bordwalk Empire". I guess she's more or less responsible for it :)
