The shark attack reaction was too unrealistic

I'd find it very hard to believe all of them would have been ok with hiding the dying man away and going on with the party.

In fact unless they're all as weak-minded as little children a good number of them would have immediately insisted on getting him to a hospital or summoning help.

he was an idiot who refused to go to a hospital because he's a little girl scared of water, if someone want to kill himself you can't do anything about it, just don't let his blood splash your shirt.

i mostly will not be able to answer your reply, since marissa mayer hacked my email, no notification

Well this is where Boyle and the author make a heavy critique showing the hypocrisy and shallowness of this culture (hippy/hipster). "We are idealistic, fun loving and loving to one another, but don't spoil our fun because then ironically we become demonic, cruel and barbaric."

Maybe, but it could have been handled more realistically perhaps.

Maybe if he'd died when they were squabbling over what to do to demonstrate their irresponsibility and selfishness perhaps. Too mild a way of making the point possibly, but something in between?

It took me out of the illusion a bit. These are mostly normal non-evil people, he's their friend, that sh!t was stone cold and seemed way too out of character.

I thought their reaction was realistic. The whole reason they're all on that island is to avoid worries and responsibility. So I can believe them wanting to hurry up and get rid of anything that hinders their worry free happiness. For them they were on one long vacation and although they cared about each other, it wasn't enough to sacrifice their paradise, so they'd rather remove any and all problems.

The film needed to spend more time getting into the characters’ heads and showing their increasing mania.
