Wow, Francoise had........

....... the BIGGEST double-standard EVER. I mean, she cheated on her steady (and presumably, long-term) boyfriend with some bloke they only met a few weeks/months ago - he had to endure the humiliation of all their new friends knowing about it, and seeing her unashamedly happy with someone else, right in his face EVERY DAY.

And then when Richard cheated on her, she kicked off BIG TIME and even slapped him one. I'm just saying..... think she got a taste of her own medicine.

and Men can do that too, so I suppose that's people for ya.

I agree! Biggest hypocrite EVER! I feel like she and Etienne reconciled after they were forced off the island and had to go home. That place was not reality, therefore her relationship with Richard was kind of like a fart in the wind. Even he said in his narration he knew it wouldn't last.

Maybe she was really irked because she is a 9.5 and her new boyfriend Richard cheated on her with an ugly chick! Richard deserved to get slapped for cheating on a super-hottie with an f-ugly chica. But maybe that's just me!

reply

I think the biggest issue to her was that he lied to her and then promised her that he wasn't lying.

Francoise seemed to be somewhat ok with infidelity (especially in their new, loose community) but less OK with lying about it.

reply

"Francoise seemed to be somewhat ok with infidelity"

Thats because she's french. In my experience, French people are really into infidelity.

Richard did not cheat. He was forced/blackmailed by Sal to do her. Anyway they should have followed the book here, but ofcourse they wanted Richard to be a "conquerer" in the film...

You want real hypocrisy watch Beverlyhills90210.

You want to play the game, you'd better know the rules, love.

He was forced? She didn't like the comes around saying.

reply

LOL he still cheated. Blackmail or no blackmail

reply

He was forced to cheat: period. I'm sure he didn't want to for the sake of Francoise but he didn't know any other way out of what Sal coaxed him into having sex with her. He could have however told Francoise straight away that Sal forced him to do it

But oh my goodness, those French girls are hard to resist. Maybe that "#1 guy to guy rule" of never cheating with a guy's girlfriend and #2 never cock blocking was starting to fade by 1997. I notice a lot of twenty-somethings cheat these days even guys that have incredible girlfriends.

reply

Yes most girls are like this nowadays :/
