Richard slept with Sal, lied to his girlfriend about it, and pretends nothing ever happened, so when she finds out she's being humiliated in front of everyone.

I don't think she's a hypocrite anymore than it's her fault. Richard should have been more responsible in telling her that Sal blackmailed him to have sex with her. Even if she found out either way, he could have at least apologized to Francoise and have passion for trying get back together again with her at the end of the movie (which I would have liked to see)
shareHe could have told her he was blackmailed into it (and he should have!) but I don't think she would have changed her reaction. Once it has happened, that was it.
shareI guess but I can only hypothesize on undisputable terms that it may or may not have been possible for them to have gotten back together depending on what the circumstances would have been but that was really up to him. He chose not to pursue her to resurrect their relationship (by telling her that he would never be unfaithful again) in the end which is a pity
