This show sucks now......

It's just getting worse and worse.

Too bad that you think so.

I also think it just keeps getting worse. What is it with CBC that they have shows that were good (Royal Can. Air Farce and This Hour has 22 Minutes) but they just let them get worse and worse all the jokes are so pathetic and predictable. The acting is terrible to on both shows!

THIS IS MY RIFLE. THERE ARE MANY OTHERS LIKE IT BUT THIS ONE IS MINE.

While I agree that the show is worse than when Rick Mercer was on, I still get a few laughs out of this show, and there are certainly far worse shows on the tube.

I strongly disagree. Canadian humour seems to be evolving, albeit at a snail's pace. Side note: Air Farce should have been shot down years ago shortly after John Morgan left (there were too many actors (some short lived) and not so funny characters thrown in). The political punch line (often inserting politicians / political party name to blame) followed by the restrained giggle and shake is so hold hat it's in tatters. It's the fart joke of Canadian humour -- shallow and simple. As long as it fits the moose, doughnut / Tim Horton's, Royal Mounty, back woods scene, it's good to go. I'm tired of it.

I find THH22M is fresh with a new twist on Canadian identity and poking fun at its supposed non-existence by exposing it facet by facet. It takes risks that are bold and at times stereotypically un-Canadian bordering on not being politically correct thus breaking the safe mould of Canadian comedy - often and unpolitely termed "lame". Gavin, Shaun and Mark are the best thing to happen to the show since its inception.

As for Rick Mercer, I find him a bit over-rated. He is clever at times but he lacks the ability to maintain a level quality of comedy in his half hour weekly show. It's too much for one person to fill. He's the Colbert of Canada without the budget to back it up.

22 Minutes is terrible, who actually laughs at this crap?
I'm watching right now and they are doing a sketch about tasting wines from the dollar store, the big laugh is supposed to be that the wine is called "Maison du Craque"..... get it?.... CRACK HOUSE!!!!
That is so funny.
Seriously Air Farce is gone and it's time for this sad dinosaur to be put down too, I'm sure the 60 year olds who write this crap have put aside enough of our tax dollars to have a cushy retirement.

I wouldnt say it sucks but it def used to be alot harsher in terms of its satire....I was too young to watch and get it when it was first on but the repeats are really hilarious!! But i do like the deadpan guy (totally forget his name) and of course, Cathy Jones as funny as always. And always like their takes on the cbc canada heritage minutes.

I would only see this program (and RCAF) when my parents were watching it

I would argue that it is getting better. This show used to be quite bad. As of the last two or three seasons it has finally reached a point where it is rather good. As long as they can keep away from the tradition that Air Farce often used when they'd end a joke with "just like the leader of the [enter random political party]". Those punch lines used to make me ill. It's a wonder Air Farce wasn't cancelled a decade ago.

Canadian comedy needs to grow up. Fart jokes, hick jokes, just like politician/political party agenda x jokes need to go. It's not funny and it's done to death.

When I look to the best comedians in the world, I look south to our American friends. George Carlin, Bill Hicks, Lewis Black, etc. Who do we have? Russel Peters, Jeremy Hotz ... anyone else? Rick Mercer? I don't think he can stand on his own for longer than a couple of minutes outside of a Canadian audience of yahoos who will bust a gut at the unfunny antics of that Deal or No Deal guy who did that awful cartoon, Bobby's World. I think Bill Hicks put it quite succinctly when he ripped on Canadians for being a bunch of dull, slow witted, slap-stick loving idiots when they didn't get his bit. They only began to laugh at the end when he figured this out and started to use such bits. It was like pulling the strings of puppets. Canadians should have been ashamed of themselves after that live show was recorded. Classic Canadian culture purported by the controlled cultural content of the CBC.

Sometimes, I'm ashamed to be a Canadian culturally as we force ourselves to wear helmets and knee pads when expressing ourselves. Otherwise, I love Canada. Go figure that.

I actually miss the chemistry of the characters bewtween Rick Mercer and Greg Thomey. Chip and Flip on Sports was one of my favorites. And I can't quite recall the name, but they had to rebut each other using a chess timer....

Those two always played off each other well, and they kept up a pretty rapid fire pace in their skits that it was hilarious.

No other pair of actors on the show have matched up that well.

It depends... I'm sure some people love what it is today but ever since the latter half of the 2000s the show has been hit or miss for me and today it's always a miss.

I can always go back and enjoy past episodes but I just can't enjoy the new episodes.
