Problem

My one year old loves this show, but something has been bothering me about it. Why can't Blue talk? I know the point of the show would be out the window if Blue could just say, "I want to get ice cream after soccer practice" rather than leaving clues. But if the salt and pepper shakers, a shovel and a bucket, the mailbox, the side table, and the neighborhood cats can all talk...why can't Blue? I don't get it.

reply

I pity your one-year-old.

reply

Why is that? Because she has a father who can pose an educated question? What a complete ass you are to respond like that. If you think the question is nonsense, why even bother to post? And why are you reading a Blue's Clues message board anyway?

Educated question? My pity has now evolved into deep, deep concern.

Also, having had part of my left buttock removed, I find that "complete ass" comment to be rather insensitive.

I know what you mean. If Blue is intelligent enough to leave clues and read, why can't she talk. But what really bothers me is that Steve seems to understand Blue (like when he says 'good idea Blue'). If he understands her, then why does he have to look for clues to know what she wants?

reply

She does it for fun! It's like if I said, no I'm not going to tell you, you have to guess. Geez.

reply

Thank you APODDER! She does it because if she didn't there wouldn't be a show. Simple as that.

reply

Ok its just like in Starwars how Luke was talking to Jabba but Jabba spoke a diffrent language however he still could under stand him . Steve in this case under stands blue because he probally knows how to speak dog.[No Im serious about this!]

reply

I think it's just a dog thing. Blue, Magenta and Green Puppy are the only ones that do not speak like everyone else.

Everyone I know can tell what Blue is saying, even when they've only seen the show once or twice. The tones and rythms of her barks are really rather easy to decipher. If she actually spoke, she wouldn't be half as cute (that Blue's Room thing, or whatever it's called, is /awful/.)
