Dan - how will he leave?

Does anyone know who they will be writting Dan out of the show?

reply

I think that he might just leave and not come back. God knows what they'll do with Ricky.

I don't think they'll imply him killing himself or anything like that but they're a pretty decent bunch of writers down there so I trust them to do it properly.

He's gone back to the farm and be with his parents indefinitely. Very classy.

I was expecting a dedication or something after last night's episode? Considering it was Mark's last appearance

You could see the chops in the story as they moved him away. I would have loved to have herd frank tell everyone they have left to search the world or something.
But his gone home to the farm was very good.

The little bit between frank and Bart in his office - looked like to guys chatting after a lost mate, Very good and very real.

I thought it was very well done considering the circumstances.
Interesting though that when Frank said he was at the family's farm he said "he's in a better place now".

They had a dedication message at the end of the episode in August that aired after the news of Mark's death broke.
And I agree it was handled very well and very sensitively.
My mum commented to me and I was wondering the same thing - did they film that bit where Frank tells everyone about Dan going to the farm indefinitely before or after Mark's death? Maybe they had an alternate ending shot or storyline planned and then they had to redo it.
I found those moments absolutely gut-wrenching to watch. It will be interesting to watch the season finale next week knowing that the actors were probably really struggling.

Anyone remember the lady a few weeks back, Maybe last. She was a smoker. When he said to her about committing suicide on her body. I thought they should never have let that go to air. Even if it's the story considering what happen it sent chills up my spin when he uttered those words.

Yes! I remember that episode. It was so awkward. And Amy said 'she must have been so desperate' or something like that. I was surprised they actually aired that.

But does anyone else think that his character's storyline was a little upsetting. I mean I wouldn't be surprised if Dan committed suicide after all that happened.

Well that would be really bad taste on the part of the writers, wouldn't it? I think the Dan/Ricky storyline will be put to rest now. Such a shame it had to end the way it did, they were such a wonderful couple. I think Ricky was always going to end up dead because they had filmed all those eps before Mark died and Jolene was leaving anyway. It just makes it extra tragic that he died right after that episode. I'd had hopes that Dan & Ricky could have just gone off travelling together or got pregnant and moved away... so sad.

I'd have to agree. With depression it's hard enough. But those few weeks really sunk him into depression on the show. And for all we know it feed it ?.
Most with depression hide it well. But watching him self destruct on the show was sad. Especially knowing what had happen.

Personally, I think the end of his real-life relationship probably had more to do with it.

I didn't like the way this was written. We see Dan walk off witht the cops yet we never get to see him grieve. But I am not sure where this falls in the timeline between the show tapings and Mark Priestley's suicide.

There was never a funeral for Erica which sucked and we never did see anyone else really break down and grieve, which is something that seems to be a constant in this show when a cast member is killed off.
