Moon River

I accidentally saw the scene where JLH sings Moon River and I was very impressed. I have never been a big fan of JLH or AH, but after seeing that scene I decided to record the whole thing and although I have not finished watching it I am becoming a fan of both JLH and AH. The way JLH portrays AH is so sweet and while the truly rabid fans of AH might not appreciate her portrayal I felt I understood a lot more about AH and the kind of person she was. She wasn't snobbish or haughty, just a geniune good soul. I for one am glad to have watched this biopic, it made me sad to see what she went through during WW2 and knowing even after that she still was a truly sweet soul. Say what you want about JLH but I think she did ok and her rendition of Moon River really knocked me out.

Henri Mancini wrote it for Audrey Hepburn to sing for the movie but he released a recording of it (him singing) after the movie came out...I think.

I personally hated that part. But I agree with everything else your saying. I am not a huge AH fan either (I just love breakfast at tiffs). but i liked the movie and even cried at the end.

I agree with you erikb359. She sang that part really well. And although I missed an hour of the movie, I ended up watching the entire movie and I understood Audrey's life from living through WW2/Nazi and even through all that pain and suffering, she still was such a sweetheart. She was a strong girl. And what she did during her last years of her life (Unicef) was so sweet. Now I know how she started it in the first place.

Audrey was an amazing, amazing woman. And I was devastated at her death too. I only wish she was still here with us. Rest in peace, dear Audrey. <3

Well, if I remember correctly, JLH did have a song/album out a while back.

"Where are all the good men dead, in the heart or in the head?"
- Grosse Pointe Blank (1997)

It was a nice rendition of 'Moon River.' I like it sung without a whole load of strings. Also I thought the incidental music with the 'Moon River' tune being played was also very charming. I think it was being played on harmonica at one point.

I got absorbed in the wartime sequences. Those scenes were particularly well-acted.

I remember hearing my mom had a recording of Andy Williams singing it.

I know it won an Oscar for best song (Johnny Mercer wrote lyrics?)
