How did Stifler get accepted at U of M?

Wot the deuce? That school is very selective. I don't know how Oz got in, much less Stifler.

reply

I don't remember them going into depth about their grades. Also there are legacies as well.

Sports scholarships. U of M has high standards if you are a regular student. If you are an athlete... May as well be Nebraska. Princeton it is not.

I'm fairly certain Oz and Stifler go to Michigan State, not U of M. U of M is considered a public ivy, one of the top few public universities in the country. I'm not saying Michigan State is bad, but it is not as good as Michigan. Also, I don't necessarily think Stifler is stupid, I'm sure he was a good enough student to at least get into an okay school. They don't talk about his grades in American Pie 1, so although he was not an intellectual I don't think we should conclude he was a bad student. I knew a guy in boarding school who was quite a bit like Stifler who got spectacular SAT's and went to Stanford. Just because a person behaves the way Stifler does doesn't mean they are stupid necessarily. Stifler was more obnoxious and crude than stupid.

Actually, later in the series I think he describes himself as more of a C student, which would make it hard to get into MSU. Maybe he meant college, it is not clear.

I assume they both got into the college because of sports.... In the later movies Oz actually plays football isn't it??? and after that he's a sports caster..

reply

Way too long winded.

Sports scholarships, enough said.

Oz and Stifler went to Michigan State, which is where the final lacrosse game and choir concert were held at. MSU is a great school and has a lot of programs that are ranked in the top 20 nationally, but at that time it wasn't very difficult to get in. If you had decent grades, good ACT/SAT score and applied early, you had a good shot at being accepted. Oz mentioned that planning on trying to walk on to the lacrosse team, which would look great on an application. I'll assume Stifler did the same. Neither of them were on scholarship.

And if any of my follow Spartans are upset by any that, not only am I an Alumni, but I was there a little after the time this movie takes place, so I am speaking from experience.
