Memories Of Sherlock Holmes

Sherlock Holmes as played by Peter Cushing was one of my favourite tv series back in 1968. I missed a few of the early episodes as I was in hospital, but I saw it from late October to the end of December that year. It was always frightening, but in a compelling sort of way. One of my abiding memories from the series is of a sea captain (I think he was) being impaled in a wall by a spear. The episode could have been 'Wisteria Lodge', about which I once wrote a school essay, the subject being my favourite television programme.
Another memory comes from the end of part 1 of 'The Hound of the Baskervilles' when Dr. Watson is running for his life from the hound.
I was very sad when the series was replaced by 'The Troubleshooters' at the beginning of 1969.
Sadly, only a few episodes of Cushing's Holmes remain in the BBC vaults. No disrespect to the other actors who have played the character, but Peter Cushing will always be Sherlock Holmes for me.

I also love this series; the episode with the harpooning is "Black Peter" btw.

Thanks for correcting the episode title for me. Unfortunately, it's one of the episodes which was wiped.
