Favourite Robot?

Pussycat was so awesome, and it was a real shame when their driver David Gribble died at the tender age of 17, he was a real asset to the team, and his skills were unmatched. However, you can't deny that Hypnodisc was the most destructive robot ever, and their incredible destruction of Splinter in Series 4 remains one of my most enduring memories of Robot Wars.

On the other hand, I hated Tornado. They seemed so smug and over-confident, and their last minute change to their robot before their Series 6 final was just absolute cheating. The judges should have said no and made them compete the way they were and Razer would have pummelled them. That's what I loved it when Chaos 2 flipped them round the arena several times before flipping them out of the arena in Series 4.

Diotoir was a load of fun too, it just kept on catching fire due to the fur it wore. I also found the Plunderbird boys a lot of fun, even though their robot was useless, you can't deny that they had style and a lot of humour.

HYPNODISC!!!!!!!1

Has to be Chaos 2. Built and run by the boy with the voice that never broke, just seemed to remain in the 'breaking up and down' stage. Loved the way it was so much better than all the others and just used to flip people out the ring. Hypnodisc was pretty amazing to watch, the way it destroyed others hard work in seconds.

Hated Razor, not sure if it was the high cost of the machine or the fact that it was so boring to watch.

All said and done though, I miss Julia Reed, If she was a Fembot, I'd buy one.

Bigger Brother : The robot just kept getting better to the point it could flip anything out of the arena. In the end its flipper was probably the most powerful in the wars (although wheely big cheese had a lot of power)

Razor was well built to win the battle but it was boring. Once it had hold that was it, it would just keep puncturing the opponent

Though hypnodisc was a great robot, which spawned loads of copies.

Anyone remember Grannys Revenge with the wheelchair ?

Whelly big cheese had the bigest and strongest fliper!

=O How did he die?
Chaos 2 was always my fave. I almost threw things at the TV when it kept getting beaten by that bloody Razer or whatever. Diotior was always fun too, as was Beheomoth, simply because it had more brawn than brains.

Motorbike accident, I believe :o(

Razer was always my favourite - completely original, great competitor and an amazing work of art.

Right now, my favorite is Chaos 2. I still like Hypnodisc, however. It kicked everyone, until Chaos 2. Watched it yesterday, Chaos 2 is merciless.

I like all the housedroids. Sir Killalot and Shunt first and foremost, but I enjoy seeing a robot getting caught between two of them.

Cassius. I believe it was the first robot on the show to flip itself back over, lost out in the finals of series one. As did Cassius 2 in series two. Fun robot.

Hypodisc was cool as hell though, *beep* menacing.

reply

Razer is definitely the greatest robot ever! Not the most spectacular but it worked so much! Hypnodisc was very nice too ;) This show was so hot :)

(sorry for my bad english!)

My 2 personal favourites is definetly chaos 2 and hypnodisc.
I think the greatest moment in robot wars history was when chaos 2 beated hypnodisc i the final, then beated the 2 house robots also. I must say I think the driver of chaos 2 was outstanding. He was the first one with a flipper, but not even when everyone made a copy noone get close to the results he made.

A thing I thought was boring with hypnodisc was that it always got some function problem, Everytime it lost it didnt even have a scratch on it.

I never realy liked Razor, mostly because they got easy opponents just so they whould last long. The only type of robot that was superior to it was the one with a spinning disc, and they almost never met anyone with one. So they didnt play on the same terms as the rest.

I think my dream fight whould be razor vs hypnodisc. that whould be something to watch

reply

The matches were arranged by seedings which were based on how far that robot (or team) had got through previous competitions.
If the program were so concerned about keeping Razer away from spinners why did it have Pussycat in its heat in Series 3?

reply

I always had a soft spot for Roadblock from the first couple of series, but when I look back now it was a pretty basic design!

My all time fave had to be Razor though. Such a great compact design, just a shame it had a tendancy to break down quite a lot. Although if I remember rightly they began to iron out the technical problems in later series.

reply

Razer was cool but I thought Cassius was the best! Very innovative considering it was from one of the earlier seasons!

reply

Hmmmm. I really didnt like the Razor team in general. They did nothing but moan and as good as the robot was, It was just so damn unreliable. Chaos 2 was impressive, but got boring after a while, after they won their first series, why not make the Bot bigger and better, instead they just came back with the exact same robot, and happened to win the next series, which I totally disagreed with. I think that Stinger had it beat in the final and the judges were just to chicken to vote against Chaos, also I think Pussycat should have won the judges decision over Chaos in the semi-final.

On that note, Pussycat is my favourite Robot, Ingenious design, capacity for massive damage, and very unlucky with some judges decisions

Have to go with Cassius. It was just phenomenal in Series 2, and probably the most influential robot ever. Pretty much everyone copied its schrimech and flipper design.

I have a soft spot for Diotoir and Recyclopse, but my favourite was definitely Chaos 2!

"They call it the American dream, because you have to be asleep to believe it"

Chaos 2 sadly started the trend of flipping robots out of the arena and flippers becoming tier A.

Razor was boring really in heindseight. I remember a match with Tornado and it was over in 5 seconds. Just straight into the claw.

reply

I got two favorites, Pussycat and Razor. Both always had great battles.

choas 2 was the best robot ever
my fave was bigger brother or firestorm

Its a shame Hypno-disc never lived up to its expectations and won a series. its an awesome robot. pretty much all the robots mentioned I love. Behemoth were unlucky as well.

I taught you everything you know, but not everything I know.
