Just a thought: Live Action Version

Just a curious idea, though the idea of it will never come around. If someone thinks of doing this series as a live action movie. Who would you cast and who would direct?

The way i look at it here is who I think would make some great parts-

Tom Selleck who has played Magnum P.I. and several westerns would make a good choice for Sundown.

Lou Gossit Jr. would be a good choice for Bulletproof Vess since Vess is a black man.

Robin Williams would be a good choice for Longarm

Although he would have to put on a special suit to make himself look overweight I think Tim Curry would be good for the roll of The Big Boss

Those are the ones that I can think of right now that would be good actors for those parts.

I was watching the show this morning and thought that Laurence Fishbourne (Morpheus, "The Matrix" series) could be good for Bulletproof.

I think some of your ideas are legit, but I feel that for the C.O.P.S., some of the actors may be a bit too young to fit the roles. Josh Hartnett, Johnny Knoxville and perhaps George Eads come to mind. Both Hartnett and Knoxville have got to be in their mid-30's at least. (I think Hartnett may be close to my age, 29, but I'll have to check.) Sundown and Barricade looked to be (I'm thinking) maybe early-to-mid-40's in the cartoon. Mace looked to be mid-40's as well, but I don't think George Eads is NEARLY bulky and muscular enough to be believeable as Mace (despite the fact that the actor himself might be around 43 years old.)

I'm thinking Highway might be between 39-42 years old in the cartoon, but I have no idea who Garrett Hedlund is as an actor, so I'll take your word for it.

You have to remember that many of these men and women have been working their fields in law enforcement for years before joining the C.O.P.S. team (that is, if you've read the ID cards on the toys.) So being accurate in their age ranges is a key factor for casting, to make sure you don't think of actors who may be too young or too old for the part. As an example, I watched the movie "Tombstone," starring Val Kilmer, and I thought Sam Elliott was all wrong to play Virgil Earp. I kept thinking that the real Virgil Earp could not have been THAT old at the time of the OK Corral gunfight.
