What season was this.....

I live in Canada and we used to get BBC Kids on satellite and this show was on all the time. I can't remember which season I started watching it but I remember in one episode this guy falls off the roof and ends up in a wheelchair. Can someone tell me what season this is and how long the characters from that season lasted??

Very roughly, it would have been in 2000 (series 12), give or take 1 series.
