Theme Song question

One of my favorite parts of this movie is the delightfully crazy theme song performed by William Finley. However, I can't quite figure out one line of the lyrics, so I thought I'd ask if anyone else can clear it up.

In the opening verse, Finley sings:

"Oh say, can you
See by the dawn,
Love's turned into a...
[I can't make out this line]"

What exactly does he sing there?
