How does this follow the Boogeyman?

I noticed in the movie connections it claims to follow the Boogeyman but I just don't see how that can be.Maybe it comes from the fact that it's the same director of the Boogeyman,but a totally different movie that has to do with the stage and vampires both of which played no part at all in The Boogeyman or any of it's sequels.The Boogeyman series dealt with possessed objects.
