DVD Release

Why on earth has this not been released on dvd?!

reply

Dont no mate, i wish they would as i was in the film as an extra at the BBC gates as the stars were turning up. It was a cool day.

reply

There has not been an offcial vhs or dvd release of Hunting Venus. On ebay someone is selling dvds which they've made themselves presumably from a tv recording and the front cover of the box is just the front cover of the cd and the inside cover displayed one above the other.

I'd love to see this released on DVD. When it was shown (where I lived in London) there was a transmission fault towards the end of the film . If this was nationwide then the bootlegs on eBay may also be affected. Given that it was 7 years ago now I don't suppose there will be a proper legit release any time soon.

I have a copy from ebay, it had a few faults but nothing too bad. I originally recorded it at the time and missed the beginning, mine had faults too at the start of the film. I have put a clip on youtube for your reference:

Any idea where I can get a copy from, ebay doesn't have any listed at the moment and doesn't seem to be available anywhere else since it was never officially released. been searching for what seems like ages to find a copy so that I can see it again.

reply

I have this on DVD if anyone is interested.

i was like 10 when it was released and i remember kicking off when my brother recorded over it

uk-rugbyplayer where did you get a copy from?

I think i know exactly what i mean
When i say it's a Shpadoinkly Day

reply

Originally recorded from the TV (as far as I know, it's only ever been shown once, never repeated) and have since transferred it to DVD. Happy to do copies for anyone who wants one. I don't think I'm breaking any laws by saying that as it's never been commerically released. If I am, please let me know!

How do I get a copy from you?

Hi There,
Desperately trying to get hold of any copy of this movie, happy to pay well for it. Can you help?

reply

That sounds marvellous and I'm certainly seriously tempted to upgrade my VHS tape to DVD

...however my tape features an added bonus of Martin (Clunes) and Neil (Morrissey) being interviewed by 'Richard and Judy' on "This Morning", a ten minute interview feature which would be a perfect DVD extra if any company could explore the obvious financial retail interest an official DVD title would generate!!!

Thanks for the offer dvd 127, it's certainly worth considering if we don't get to see an official release, something that I'm sure would be a winner considering that 80s music never seems to go out of fashion/appeal of the general public... you just have to see it's use in the warmly received "Ashes To Ashes" TV series at the moment.

The "This Morning" interview, approx 9 mins long was originally broadcast on ITV1 on 30th March 1999, but I taped the early morning ITV2 repeat on Sunday 4th April 1999. During this there are three brief clips from "Hunting Venus", Neil gives a reasonably good synopsis of the show and it's certainly a pleasing lighthearted chat with these two likeable lads on a show that I personally wouldn't normally bother with.

Just wanted to say that I have sent an email appeal this afternoon to Network DVD of approx 550 words stating the case for a DVD release of "Hunting Venus" and the 9 min extra which I mentioned in my previous reply. I hope they will favourably consider my request but I suspect I'll probably not get any kind of positive response back. Still at least I've asked, so I guess it's better than nothing!

So, westlondon, have you posted to every thread on imdb where someone is offering DVD copies of an unreleased programme, shouting about how their work is illegal and how you've told on them?!

Or is it just DVD247? I notice you've vented your spleen against on this seller on several threads. Anyone would think you had some sort of personal grudge against him/her.

I've also traded with DVD247 more than once and enjoyed great service.

I agree with parrylel.
I trade with dvd247 all the time and Dave has never let me down.
He replies the same day too if you email him.
You can use Paypal and all his stuff is non-rip-off region free and you can have it in PAL or NSTC format.

Three quid for a dvdr is not a rip off either !!!!!
